Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has appreciated Shabana FC for their promotion to the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) 2023/2024 with a donation of Ksh 500,000.
Shabana Football Club propelled themselves back to the FKF Premier League with a 1-0 victory over Migori Youth in a chaotic National Super League (NSL) match at Gusii Stadium on Sunday.
Machogu alongside other leaders from both Kisii and Nyamira commended the team during a celebratory lunch meeting at Bomas of Kenya.
The event was attended by Solicitor General Shadrack Mose, Member of Parliament Silvanus Osoro, Nyaribari Chache’s Zaheer Jhanda, Nominated Senator Esther Okenyuri, Coms Fund Ceo Duke Mainga Echate, Walter Nyambati, Former FKF boss Sam Nyamweya, Josephine Omanwa, among other leaders.
The leaders collectively expressed their heartfelt regards to Shabana FC for their remarkable achievement and assured the team of unwavering support as they embarked on their journey in the esteemed KPL.
In addition to their words of encouragement, the leaders raised substantial funds to bolster Shabana FC’s endeavors.
The Solicitor General made a noteworthy contribution of Ksh 200,000, while Nyamweya generously donated Ksh 50,000 and balls worth Ksh 150,000.
Former Kisii County deputy governor Joash Maangi contributed Ksh 50,000, Walter Nyambati gave out Ksh 50,000, and Duke Mainga offered Ksh 30,000.
During the event, Machogu expressed his dedication to supporting Shabana FC and affirmed his commitment to attending their upcoming game against Darajani at the Police Sacco Stadium on Friday June 23, 2023.
