The government has made changes on dates when learners in primary and secondary schools will be released for Term 2 Half term break.
The half-term break will now take place from June 27 to July 1, 2023, as opposed to its previous dates of June 29 to July 2, 2023.
The changes are as a result of the announcement made by the ministry of education through a circular signed by education PS Belio Kipsang on April 24.
PS kipsang noted that the current term dates for midterm of second term coincide with the dates of KESSHA’s 46th annual national conference.
“The Ministry recognize that the National KESSHA Conference is a significant occasion that enables school administrators to reflect on and exchange experiences in running of schools” said Kipsang In a letter addressed to KESSHA Chair Kahi Indimuli
After learners are through with the remaining part of Term 2, Schools will close on August 12 till August 27.
According to the Cs Machogu led ministry ,the final term of the year will begin on August 28 and continue until October 27, just a few days before the start of national examinations. The term, being the shortest of the year, will not have a halfterm break for the learners
A holiday will be given from October 28, 2023, to January 8, 2024, for students who are not taking KNEC national examinations.
The KPSEA and KCPE examinations for students in grades six and eight will begin on October 30, 2023, and continue through November 2, 2023.
Exams for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) will start on November 3 and end on November 24, 2023.
