President William Ruto on June 30, 2023 launched Digital Government Services, Gava Mkononi (eCitizen Mobile App),at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), marking a significant leap towards a more accessible and streamlined government service experience.
This innovative platform brings together over 5,000 government services, consolidating them under one virtual roof and empowering Kenyans to effortlessly access critical services from the comfort of their own homes.
In a remarkable move, Ruto also unveiled the Gava Express, a digital counterpart to the traditional Huduma Centers.
This platform will extend its services to the grassroots level, catering to the needs of citizens beyond urban areas.
Collaborating with the private sector, the government envisions establishing more than 300,000 outlets nationwide, ensuring widespread access to essential services.
Beyond the quest for convenience, the Kenya Kwanza administration is committed to digitizing all government services to combat corruption by eliminating physical interactions, middlemen, and undue influence.
This transformative agenda aims to enhance revenue collection by minimizing leakages, a persistent issue that plagues manual levy collections.

Moreover, the platform’s broader objectives include fostering employment opportunities by nurturing innovative projects fueled by increased revenue collection.
The eCitizen Mobile App offers a comprehensive array of services, including business registration, police clearance, civil registration, initial registration for foreign nationals, and immigration services provided by the Directorate of Immigration Services.
It also encompasses services from key institutions such as the Kenya Ports Authority, Kenya Revenue Authority, Hustler Fund, National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), and the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).

Users can download it online and proceed to create an account by entering the required information, which include their name, phone number, National Identity Card, and email address.
Individuals can register as citizens, foreigners, or residents using this versatile platform.
Once registered, Kenyans can seamlessly navigate through the extensive range of government services.
Payment for these services can be conveniently made using mobile money platforms or debit cards, ensuring a secure and hassle-free transaction process.
