The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has issued a cautionary message to Kenyans, advising them to remain vigilant against individuals attempting to sell counterfeit recruitment calling letters.
In a notice issued on Saturday, August 12, KDF emphasized that authentic recruitment letters are provided free of charge and will be issued exclusively at the designated recruitment centers.
KDF acknowledged that they are aware of a concerning situation where vulnerable and unsuspecting Kenyans have fallen victim to scams where money is extorted in exchange for these letters.
“The Ministry of Defence will recruit KDF Cadets/Recruits between Aug & Sept 2023. Do not buy calling letters from anyone. Report Fraud to 0726419706/0726419709,” stated KDF.
KDF recruiting teams consisting of the Kenya Army, the Kenya Air Force and the Kenya Navy will conduct recruitment at various recruitment centers on various dates for General Service Officer (GSO) Cadets, General Service Officer Cadets – Graduate degree holders, General Duty Recruits and Defence Forces Constabulary.
The recruitment drive is scheduled to take place from August 28 to September 8 at various centers countrywide.
“Bribery and other acts of corruption are against the law, and anyone suspected of being culpable of such will be arrested and prosecuted in a court of law. KDF recruitment is absolutely free to all,” the ministry added.
All potential candidates reporting to the recruitment centers should come from the sub-counties, divisions of their respective counties and districts.
They should also bring their current original national identity cards, academic certificates, and testimonials.
