Fire has razed down a dormitory and a store at Kisumu Boys High School on Sunday evening , leaving many students without a place to sleep.
As per the time of publishing this article ,The cause of the fire was unknown, and the extent of the damage is yet to be assessed.
Firefighters drawn from the County government arrived at the scene and battled the flames, while the students were evacuated to the school’s playing field.
There were no casualties that were reported during the Kisumu Boys dormitory fire incident.
The school administration and the local authorities are investigating the incident and providing support to the affected students.
The incident comes few hours after the neignbouring Kisumu Girls high schools was closed following reports of planned students unrest
According to the teacher, who sought to remain anonymous, the issue began last night when the school administration denied the students permission to hold a music event within the school premises.
“The students were excited about having music for entertainment, but the school management rejected the idea last night,” stated the teacher.
The students reportedly became unruly last night, some sitting on the fields and refusing to go to bed.
The situation escalated on Sunday, with students being disruptive and creating noise within the school.
The source added that, following discussions, the administration sent the students home to alleviate the increasing tension within the school.
