The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has changed the results release date for the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam.
The news comes a few days after the release of Form One placement results by Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu.
CS Machogu guided parents and guardians on how to check the secondary schools where their children were placed, noting that Form One students are expected to report on January 15, 2024.
Many parents have encountered difficulties in downloading the Form One calling letter from the KEMIS system, as they are currently unavailable, with the system indicating ‘Coming up soon.
Due to the glitches observed in the transmission of 2023 KCPE results, the KCSE results will not be accessible through Short Messaging Service (SMS) ,Instead the 2023 KCSE results will be accessible through the Kenya Education Management Information System (KEMIS) portal introduced by CS Machogu.
Parents and candidates will need to visit the website and enter data, including the KCSE names and index numbers, to obtain the results.
Marking for the 2023 KCSE exams commenced on November 27, 2023, and was carried out across various marking centers.
The marking exercise was initially scheduled to conclude on December 11, 2023, but was extended by two additional days, disrupting the planned release date for the results between December 16th and 22nd
Following the extension, KNEC has rescheduled the release date to early next week.
CS Machogu, during the Form One placement exercise, confirmed that the KCSE 2023 results will be released next week, indicating that candidates will learn their results on Monday or Tuesday.
A total of 903,260 candidates sat for this year’s KCSE exams, which began with projects running from January to July 2023.
The KCSE oral, practical, and theory papers were written between October 23 and November 24, 2023.
