The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced the end of school /centre application system for students who wish to receive government funding.
In this type of application KUCCPS mandates secondary school principals to upload programme choices submitted KCSE candidates in their respective schools.
In a letter issued by KUCCPS CEO Agnes Wahome on October 9 to all secondary school principals across the country, the termination of the application process is a result of he new funding model.
In the new model, applicants make choices based on, among other considerations, the cost per programme as published in the placement agency online application system.
KUCCPS is a State Corporation mandated to co-ordinate placement of Government-Sponsored Students to Universities and Colleges; develop career guidance programmes for the benefit of students, disseminate information on available programmes, their costs and the areas of study prioritized by the Government, among other functions.
“Application for placement to universities and colleges will commence after release of KCSE Examination results and declaration of programmes, capacities and programme costs by training institutions.”Wahome further stated.
The information will support decision making by applicants and their parents/guardians.
” KUCCPS will continuously offer career guidance to students while still in school and support subjects selection to fit their careers of choice. Capacity building for Career Guidance Teachers will also be enhanced to empower them to guide students on application for placement.” Wahome stated.
