The Ministry of Education (MoE) has released the school calendar for the third term prior to the 2023 KNEC National Examinations.
In a statement issued on September 15, Basic Education Principal Secretary, Dr. Bellio Kipsang, announced that candidates are set to kick off national tests on October 30.
Kipsang advised Parents to prepare accordingly and collaborate with teachers to ensure a smooth examination period for students.
“All schools opened for the Third Term of the 2023 academic calendar on August 28th, 2023, which is scheduled to run until October 27th, 2023 to pave the way for the national examinations season.
” field officials and institutional administrators are reminded that all school activities involving parents and other stakeholders are not allowed during the Third Term to allow for adequate preparations ahead of the National Examinations that are set to start on 30th October, 2023,”the statement explained.
He further stated that the government would disburse all necessary capitation funds to schools to ensure a seamless calendar.
“The Ministry of Education has received Ksh16,249,982,722.28 Billion as capitation funds from The National Treasury to facilitate the smooth running of all school activities. This fund will be disbursed to learners in public Primary, Junior, and Secondary schools,” the statement clarified.
Kipsang mentioned that Junior Secondary Schools would receive Ksh1.75 billion, Free Primary Education would get Ksh1.56 billion, and Free Day Secondary Education would receive Ksh12.9 billion in capitation.
To maintain the normal operations of all school activities, the Ministry of Education will ensure that the funds are credited to respective school accounts by September 20, 2023.
A comprehensive breakdown of the funds and guidelines for their judicious utilization have been sent to schools in compliance with Government regulations.
In the 2022/2023 Financial Year, the Ministry of Education disbursed a total of Ksh89.4 billion as capitation for Primary, Junior, and Secondary School learning.
