Safaricom PLC has launched a new service (Niokolee) that enables its customers to ask for airtime from their friends and family members.
This service is available for both Safaricom PrePay and PostPay Subscribers, excluding those who are roaming.
Users have the option to request airtime ranging from Ksh 10 to Ksh 100 from their close relatives.
How to Make a Niokolee Request:
- Dial *444# from your Safaricom line.
- Select “Niokolee” then Select “Request Kredo”.
- Enter the Safaricom number you would like to request credit from.
- Select the Predefined Airtime amount and submit.
- Wait for the Safaricom number user to accept or decline your request.
How to Accept a Niokolee Request?
You will receive a notification from 44444 asking you to “Accept” or “Decline” the request. Once you accept the request, the selected amount equivalent is moved from you to the requestor.
Both parties will receive notifications of the transaction
Safaricom has included a feature called Share Kredo (share gift) under the Niokolee Menu. This feature is similar to Sambaza, as it allows users to transfer credit from one Safaricom number to another Safaricom number. Unlike Sambaza, Share Kredo is voluntary and not initiated in response to a customer’s request.
Share Kredo does not require the receiver to prompt the sender for credit. However, this service offers predefined airtime bundles with a fixed validity period. This distinguishes Share Kredo from Sambaza, where the sender can choose the desired amount to transfer, and the transferred airtime has no expiration date.
Additionally, the Niokolee Menu includes the traditional Please Call Me and Reverse Call services, popular among Safaricom customers. These services aim to give customers more options to stay connected on the Safaricom network.
