The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) on Friday, May 26 announced that there are 488 available job vacancies for teachers and teaching interns across the country.
In an official notice, the Commission stated its intention to hire 328 interns for Junior Secondary Schools, 16 interns for Public Secondary Schools, 56 permanent and pensionable teachers for post-primary institutions, and 88 contractual teachers for Garissa, Wajir, and Mandera.
The advertisement clarified that the positions include permanent and pensionable jobs, internships, and contractual roles.
The interns will be employed for a period of 12 months, with those assigned to secondary schools receiving a monthly stipend of Ksh20,000.

All applicants must be Kenyan citizens, possess at least a diploma in Education, be registered with TSC, and have achieved a mean grade of C+ and C+ in two teaching subjects (for interns).
Required documents include copies of the Teacher Registration Certificate, National Council for Persons with Disability (NCPWD) card (if applicable), National Identity Card or passport, two color passport-size photographs, National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) documentation, and Kenya Revenue Authority Personal Identification Number (KRA PIN).
The commission informed candidates that only shortlisted individuals will be contacted.
“The recruitment process is free of charge. The Teacher Service Commission warns applicants to be cautious of fraudsters who may attempt to extort money from unsuspecting individuals by claiming to assist in the recruitment process,” cautioned TSC.
Applicants are encouraged to report any fraudulent activities to the nearest police station or TSC offices.
According to the TSC, the timeline for teacher recruitment of teachers who will fill 488 job vacancies will begin on May 25, 2023, and continue until June 26, 2023.
Teacher promotions will take place from May 25, 2023, to July 28, 2023.
Therefore, the commission requested all interested candidates to submit their applications by Friday, June 2, 2023.
