The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) on Wednesday, July 5 announced 20,000 positions for intern teachers for both Junior Secondary Schools (18,000) and Primary Schools (2,000).
The commission published a job advert stating that primary school teachers with CBC -Upgrade Diploma in Primary Teacher Education certificate (UDPTE) would have an added advantage in the ongoing recruitment exercise.
The ongoing recruitment exercise targets unemployed registered teachers to enhance their teaching experience through mentorship, coaching, and exposure to practical teaching experience at assigned learning institutions.
Interns placed in primary schools will receive a monthly stipend of Ksh15,000, while those in Junior Secondary Schools will receive Ksh20,000.
The internship period for the financial year 2023/2024 will be 12 months.
Some of the stipulated requirements for the interns include;
- One must be a Kenyan citizen.
- One must be a holder of at least a Diploma in Education with a minimum mean Grade of C+ (plus) and C+ (plus) in two teaching subjects in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KSCE) or its equivalent, be a P1 certificate holder for Primary interns.
- One must be a registered teacher with the Teachers Service Commission.
During the internship period, all successful candidates must obtain Personal Accident Insurance to cover personal risks.
The candidates must provide several required documents, including copies of their Teacher Registration Certificate from the TSC online portal, their National Identity Card or passport, their National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) card, their Kenya Revenue Authority Personal Identification Number (KRA PIN), and two colored passport-size photos.
If applicable, candidates should also include a copy of the National Council for Persons with Disability (NCPWD).
The TSC emphasized the fairness and integrity of the recruitment process and cautioned applicants about potential fraudulent individuals.
The deadline for all submissions is July 18, 2023.
